Renewal of membership dues is required each winter. Notices are mailed in late November with a due date of no later than March 31. The membership year is Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. While dues are not prorated, members joining October–December are grandfathered into the following membership year and not required to pay dues for that year.

The following annual dues structure is effective Oct. 1, 2009:

Active Membership

Dues – new members: $120*; annual dues: $105

Active membership is open to anyone who is a full-time public relations practitioner, or someone who is exercising full responsibility for his or her employer's public relations activities. Applicants should meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Applicants should spend 50 percent of their work time performing public relations duties;
  • Alternatively, applicants should be solely responsible for the public relations function of an organization.

Associate Membership
Dues – new members: $140*, annual renewal: $125

Associate membership is open to those with an interest in public relations that do not meet the criteria for active membership. This category is ideal for vendors who benefit from the ability to network and associate with public relations practitioners.

Sustaining Membership
Dues – annual renewal: $30

Sustaining membership is available to those current PRCA members who have retired from a full-time public relations career.

Student Membership
Dues – new member: $25*; annual renewal: $15

Student membership is available to full-time college students interested in a career in public relations (usually used when there is no local student chapter available).

Charter Membership
Annual dues for Charter membership are complimentary

Charter membership is bestowed as an honorary status to current members. It includes all the privileges of active membership.

* New active and associate members are assessed an additional one-time application fee of $15.00. Students are assessed an additional one-time application fee of $10.00. New member fees are payable with the application and are not prorated. Dues are only refunded if the prospective member's application is not approved.
