PR Industry Insights

The art, craft and strategy of public relations depends on human qualities such as curiosity, critical thinking, and empathy. Artificial intelligence will never replace the reasoned insights that we gain through in-person contact with audiences and industry experts. People will always be able to offer something that AI cannot. The technology also won’t supplant our interaction with senior managers in our organizations, who define the objectives and strategies that our communications should support. You can devote the time that AI saves you to tasks that are beyond its capabilities, such as robust support of strategy.

A Letter From the President
PRCA Launches

Hello PRCA Montgomery members,

PRCA Montgomery was on fire during the month of April, and we are excited to turn up the heat for May! We gained valuable insight during the PRCA State Ignite Conference while bringing home some great wins – including the 2023 Chapter of the Year! Our nominee for the Professional Achievement Award - Megan Hughes, APR - was also selected for that award at the State level and will go on to represent PRCA at the regional SPRF conference. We couldn’t be prouder of Megan for this accomplishment! PRCA Montgomery members Mary Wilson, APR, and Troy Johnson also brought home some wins. Congratulations on a job well done to our members, our Board, and the chapter!

Our members were out and about in the community this month volunteering, connecting with students, and enhancing the profession. We even have a Hall of Famer among us! That’s right, Christie Aitken, immediate Past President of PRCA Montgomery, was inducted into the Lee High School Hall of Fame this month! We love to see all the amazing things you all are doing, so if you have some good news, please feel free to share it with us!

We also had a great time learning the art of staying motivated from Tasha McDonald Carter during our April luncheon. Next month, we’re taking on the topic of mental health with our first Mental Health Matters panel! Be sure to register for that meeting and bring a friend.

Thank you to all who filled out the member survey. We’ve gone through the results and are implementing new initiatives based on your feedback. Stay tuned for some new enhancement and updates as we strive to serve you better and ensure you get the most out of your membership.

If I haven’t said it already, I am grateful that you have chosen to participate in membership with PRCA Montgomery, and I hope you are benefiting from and enjoying your membership as much as I am enjoying the opportunity to serve you! If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on ways we can serve you better, I am only an email, call, or text away!

In dedication and service,

Mikala McCurry, APR
