About The Event
Kimberly Baker is the Director of Development and Marketing at Valiant Cross Academy. Her love for children and education drew her to the first all-male school in Montgomery, AL that transcends the challenges facing young, African American males. She began working at the organization shortly after it opened its doors in 2015. Since then, she has brought national attention to the school by receiving the USA TODAY - A Community Thrives National Grant, the State Farm Neighborhood Assist National Grant as well as receiving the “Official Bicentennial School” designation by Governor Kay Ivey. In just six short years, the school has won over 100 grants and awards under her guidance.
Kimberly has over17 years of experience with the non-profit community in leadership, marketing, and public relations. Previously, her career was in the healthcare industry as a Director of Brand Management for a ophthalmic, surgical device company. She has served and volunteered with numerous non-profits in Montgomery and the River Region.
She was recognized as one of River Region Living’s Women of Distinction, and Senator Richard Shelby recently recognized her as one of “The Gifts of Alabamians” for her commitment to community service in Montgomery and The River Region. Kimberly is a Paul Harris Fellow, and a finalist for the Volunteer of the Year Award for Birmingham Magazine.
Kimberly has served on multiple non-profit Boards of Directors including the Red Tail Scholarship Foundation, Montgomery Rotary Club, Hospice of Montgomery, Montgomery Christian School, ClefWorks, Hands on River Region, Montgomery Music Project, Medical Aids Outreach, Mercy House, the Junior League of Montgomery and the Montgomery Botanical Gardens. She also helped the underserved file taxes with Impact Alabama, has volunteered with Common Ground Montgomery, Hope Inspired Ministries, Brantwood Children’s Home, Medical Outreach Ministries, United Way Big Brothers and Big Sisters and the Cancer Care Center.
Kimberly has a B.S. from Auburn University is an active member of the Montgomery Rotary Club and attends First United Methodist Church.
